I got the same classic when it was 1st released, before the software updates & it was very slow but since the updates I think its the best ipod on the market, not as flash as the Touch but a better music only player I think.
i liked the ipod classic when i had mine. one thing i've liked about all ipods prior to the touch was the shuffle albums feature, which apple seems to think doesn't need to show up on the touch...
I bought the 160Gb iPod classic. I'm and IT Manager in a print facility that is primarily Mac based, so I use it not only for my music and videos but as a portable and convenient hard drive for moving files around when ARD won't do the job. I love my classic, though I am disappointed that the changes to the video out left so many dock/player devices out in the cold on the new generation models.
For example, I have a panasonic portable DVD player I use on longer trips in the car to keep my 2 year old daughter entertained. It has an iPod dock, which is why I bought it, for the convenience of not having to swap disks in the back seat. However, while my 30Gb Video iPod works, my 160GB iPod Classic will not work in the dock. I get an error about inserting a video out cable.
I really wish Apple had kept the dock connections consistent with previous generations for 3rd party docks, but I wouldn't trade in my Classic for anything.
